Brüko Custom Super-Soprano Ukulele

About 12 years ago my sister gave me a ukulele as a birthday present. I thought “great, a ukulele” and stored it somewhere in a cupboard. A couple of years later, one evening, I was bored because I had nothing to do and there was nothing on the box. So I grabbed the uke to find out what you can do with it… and I haven’t stopped playing since! In the mean time I have bought three more ukuleles, one of them a very special instrument, custom made to my own requirements! It’s hard to stop “rescuing” the sweet little things…

Ukuleles are not just “small guitars” or toys for children. They are proper instruments in their own right and you can easily spend a few thousand pounds on a top-of-the-range one. Nevertheless a decent ukulele doesn’t need to set you back more than about £30 to £50. But don’t just go and buy a cheap uke from your local supermarket! There are some horrible “instruments” out there and anybody trying to learn playing on one of those will inevitably fail. Take a knowledgeable friend with you and/or buy from a proper music shop on the high street. They usually set your new ukulele up for you (new strings, comfortable action, etc) and if later there’s something wrong with it, you can take it back and they will help you sorting it out. Of course I am also happy to give you advice and help you finding the right instrument for you.

I have been teaching ukulele for nearly 10 years to students of all ages. I can support your playing whether you only want to be able to strum a few songs, or whether you are going the graded exam route. Folk songs, rock songs and ballads, jazz, classical pieces, hawaiian music, …, the ukulele is a great instrument for all styles, it doesn’t have to be George Formby!
